End Food Waste Australia is a national organisation that works alongside industry, government, and communities in pursuit of an Australia without food waste.

Did you know that food waste costs Australia an estimated $36 billion a year? (FIAL 2021). Around 1.4% of Australia's GDP. It's more than an environmental issue,  food waste sits at the intersection of food security, cost of living and climate resilience. We believe tackling something this big isn't a job for any one organisation alone, and reducing food waste together is one of the most powerful, immediate ways we can strengthen food security for more Australians, faster.

The Great Unwaste in a nationwide behaviour change campaign designed to inspire and support all Australians to reduce food waste in their homes.

From farm to fork — food waste can happen at every step it takes to grow food and get it to your table. Businesses, government, community organisations and individuals like you all have an important role in turning food waste around.

Developed by End Food Waste Australia, this campaign aims to help meet the bold target of reducing household food waste by over 20% by 2030. Reducing food waste in our homes is a crucial component of Australia’s commitment to halve total food waste by 2030.

Informed by nation-leading research, we know the impact that can be achieved by collectively making simple changes to our daily habits. Together, it’s possible to turn food waste around and reduce the negative impacts it has on people, the planet and our pockets.

The Great Unwaste is a collaboration between industry, all levels of government, the not-for-profit sector and everyday Australians.
